Below you will find answers to many common questions about Missouri State Giving Day 2024.

What is Missouri State Giving Day?

Giving Day is a 36-hour celebration of Bear spirit and the power of giving back, starting at 10am, CST, on March 5. Giving Day is a special opportunity for Missouri State students, employees, alumni, family, and friends to come together virtually and show their support for their favorite Missouri State departments, programs, student organizations, and teams. You choose where you want your gift to have an impact, and special challenges mean that your gift can go further and do more than at any other time of the year.

How can I participate?

Anyone can get involved with Missouri State's Giving Day! Simply by donating, you will make an impact. If you wish to be more involved, sign up to be an Ambassador. Please also post about Missouri State's Giving Day on social media using #BearsGive.

When can I make my donation to Missouri State's Giving Day?

Get in early and make your gift starting February 13th. The majority of gifts will take place March 5 10am - March 6 10pm.

How do I sponsor a Match or a Challenge?

By sponsoring a dollar-for-dollar Match or a Challenge, you support the enire campus community and inspire  other alumni, parents, and friends to join you in making a gift to Missouri State. Your sponsoring gift can be earmarked for a specific fund or department of your choice.

TYPES OF EVENTS 
Matching gifts inspire other donors to give, as their gift is immediately matched dollar-for-dollar through our 
Giving Day plaƞorm: 
- Matching funds increase average gift size by 41% 
- Matching funds increase the # of donatons by 110% 
- Matching funds increase revenue by 120% 

 

Example: Boomer Bear will match every gift to the Biz Bears Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000 

 

Challenge gifts inspire other donors to make larger gifts and can encourage donors who are on-the-fence about 
supporting MSU on Giving Day to join you in making a gifts. When you create a Challenge, you can target a specific fund or 
department, affiliation (class year, member of a Greek organization, etc.), to increase support for that area. 

 

Example: If 25 people give to the College of Education-Scholarship Fund, an $8,500 gifts from Boomer Bear will be unlocked. 

 

GIVING DAY CHALLENGE DETAILS 
Work with a MSU Advancement team member to craft your challenge/match pledge to inspire others to contribute. 
A challenge or match donor should: 
- Sign pledge agreements for $500 or more to their area of choice 
- Feel comfortable having their name publicly listed online or remain anonymous
- Encourage their networks to support their challenge/matching gifts.


IMPORTANT DATES 
- Giving Day is March 5-6, 2024. 
- Pledges must be paid within the current Fiscal Year, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024. 
- The cut-off date for pledge agreements to count for a challenge is February 19, 2024.

How can I donate?

Donating is easy. Visit givingday.missouristate.edu between 10am on March 5 2024 and 10pm March 6, 2024 and find one or more areas to give. We strongly encourage you to make your gift online. This is the only way to assure that your gift will qualify for matches and challenges taking place throughout the event. To give by phone, you may call (417)836-4143. You can make a gift to support the university's greatest priorities and opportunities, including scholarships, or you can make a gift in support of your school, college, or program of choice. You may make a gift to more than one area in the same transaction!

 

When you make your gift you could also earn bonus funds to support it. Then, share your experience! Post about it on social. Email it. Encourage your friends to match your gift. Encouraging others to participate guarantees success

I'm having trouble making my gift and/or I haven't received my gift confirmation email. What should I do?

If you have issues with the payment process, and/or if you haven't received your confirmation email and tax receipt, please email alisonharper@missouristate.edu for assistance. 

I don't see my preferred gift designation. What should I do?

If you do not see your preferred gift designation, give us a call 417-836-4143.

Is my contribution tax deductible?

Yes. Philanthropic contributions to the Missouri State Foundation are tax-deductible as prescribed by law.

When will my credit card be charged?

Immediately after finalizing your gift on the site.
